Admission Criteria:
- Priority is given to families where at least one parent or legal guardian is French speaking, and that parent or legal guardian is fluent in French.
- Priority is also given to children who have a sibling already enrolled in one of La Boîte à soleil programs, as well as to staff members or school in which the centre is located.
- The date the registration is made on the waiting list.
- The part-time program is offered if it does not compromise the financial viability of the center or the quality of the educational program.
- Parents demonstrate a commitment to their child’s education.
- Children must be at least 3 months old to be accepted into the Infant group. Infants will move to the toddler group when they reach 18 months of age and when a space becomes available in this group. If by the time the child reaches 18 months of age there is no space in the toddler group, the child will remain in the infant group and the toddler rate will be applied at the time of billing.
- To be accepted in the toddler group, the child must be able to follow the schedule and meet the developmental criteria of the toddler group (walking and feeding).
- To be accepted into the preschool group, the child must be between 2.5 (30 months) and 5 years of age. Toddlers will move to the preschool group when they reach the age of 2.5 years (30 months) and when a space becomes available in this group. The preschool rate will be applied to the billing once the child reaches 2.5 years (30 months) of age even if space in the preschool group is not available at that time.

Registration process
- Parent’s first step to register their child with La Boîte à soleil is to create an account on the Niagara Child Care Registry or Onelist. This is a central registry for all child care in Niagara. Parents input their information and child care needs as well as their preferred child care provider. This is where parents choose their preferred La Boîte à soleil child care centre. La Boîte à soleil’s Central Registration and Inquiry Office takes on the responsibility of keeping up to date on the parent applications.
- When a spot becomes available, parents will be contacted via phone or email to begin the registration process. (Please note, our emails will sometimes get sent directly to the Junk folder. Please check this folder periodically).
- Parents will have 48 hours to respond to the phone call or email to reserve the spot for their child. If we do not hear back within the 48 hours, we will be moving onto the next family on the waiting list.
- After having reserved the spot, the registration process takes approximately 7 days to complete.
- Priority is given to families based on their application date on the Onelist. The earlier families register on the Onelist the higher their priority will be when their preferred start date approaches.
- Parents will receive an email with information on the enrollment of their child. Parents will be given 7 days to submit their completed service agreement and reserve their child’s spot. If the service agreement is not completed within 7 days, we will be moving on to the next family on the waiting list.
- Depending on the situation, separated/divorced parents may be required to complete two separate service agreements as well as a separated parent’s agreement. This will be completed with the supervisor of their centre.
- The service agreement will be reviewed within 2-4 business days following the submission. If the required information is complete, a confirmation email will be sent to the parents with their child’s start date as well as additional information before starting at La Boîte à soleil.
- Parents are required to have an orientation with the supervisor of their respective centres before their child starts. This will be arranged after the registration is completed.
To ensure the registration is completed:
- The enrollment documents must be completed with all necessary information.
- The proper documents must be uploaded to their Digibot account using the parent portal .
- Parents must receive an email confirmation of their child’s registration.
